Strategic Stories by Pete

    The Filmmaker Behind Strategic Stories

Peter Murphy Lewis has spent his career finding the stories that industries with important work and invisible people have never been able to tell.

Peter Murphy Lewis is a documentary filmmaker, television host, and keynote speaker. He is the creator and host of People Worth Caring About, now across multiple seasons with more than 147 filmed stories, streaming on Hulu, Apple TV, Amazon, and Roku, and the founder of Strategic Stories.

His path to documentary filmmaking wasn't linear. Before picking up a camera professionally, he spent 15 years building and operating a travel company across Latin America, worked as a CNN correspondent, taught political science at the University of Chile for a decade, and held more than 100 jobs across his working life. That range didn't dilute his focus; it became his method. He knows how to walk into any room, in any industry, and find the person the story actually belongs to.

That method produced Aquí te las traigo Peter, a documentary-style television series that aired for three seasons on Chilean national television, in which he explored more than 100 trades and crafts across the country. The show's premise, go inside the work, show the people, let audiences decide what it means, became the DNA of everything that followed.

He came back to the United States and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, working in long-term care. What he saw there, skilled, committed people doing meaningful work inside an industry most Americans actively avoid thinking about, became People Worth Caring About. What started as a single documentary for the Nebraska Health Care Association has grown into a multi-season series that has since expanded to Ohio, New Mexico, Kentucky, and Florida, generating over 40 million social media views and inspiring associations across the country to finally show the public what caregiving actually looks like. The series is listed on IMDb and has its own Wikipedia entry.

He also hosts Sueño Americano, a Canal 13 documentary series following Chileans living across the United States in pursuit of opportunity.

His production company, Strategic Stories, extends that same approach to other industries: construction, manufacturing, banking, agriculture, skilled trades, any sector where extraordinary people are doing work the public doesn't understand, and where that misunderstanding is costing organizations their recruitment pipeline, their community trust, and their ability to tell their own story.

Outside of documentary work, Peter operates as a fractional CMO through Strategic Pete, helping leadership teams translate authentic organizational story into measurable outcomes across recruitment, culture, and public perception.

Peter is a keynote speaker at national conferences including LTC100 and AHCA/NCAL. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations with distinguished honors from the University of Chile and is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science. He creates content in English and Spanish and is based in Wichita, Kansas.

You can find his full filmography on IMDb and his background on Wikipedia.

His filmmaking philosophy: Human. Not Hollywood.
